S/V Island Girl is now on the market! This pristine 1991 Island Packet 38 was designed by well renowned Naval Architect Bob Johnson and built by Island Packet Yachts in the USA. The Island Packet 38 is celebrated for its exceptional ability to navigate the seas with both safety and luxurious comfort. Its unique full foil keel design not only enhances directional stability but also provides excellent protection for both the rudder and propeller, ensuring peace of mind during your travels. The robust construction of these vessels, featuring solid fiberglass hulls and decks, significantly reduces the likelihood of osmotic blistering, a common concern for other boat brands.
This Island Packet 38 is a well thought out 3-cabin layout, with 2 heads each with a shower and a Tecma fresh water electric marine toilet, comfort and convenience are prioritized throughout the vessel. Step inside to discover the exquisite handcrafted solid teak joinery that adorns the interior, all maintained in beautiful condition. The forward stateroom features a spacious Pullman berth, complemented by ample storage and its own private head and shower. The main salon has a U-shaped dinette that easily converts into a double berth, alongside a settee that can transform into a single berth. A fold-down table adds to the versatile dining experience. The dedicated fully equipped navigation station is conveniently located to starboard, just forward of the galley. The galley is equipped with a Princess three-burner stove with oven, a double sink, a refrigerator/freezer, and plenty of counter space and storage. In the aft cabin, you'll find a large cozy double berth, a hanging locker, and direct access to the second head with shower, providing extra privacy for guests or family members. For added comfort this vessel has 2 marine air conditioners: a CTM 16k BTU air conditioner for the Salon and Aft Cabin, and a MarineAir 16k BTU air conditioner for the Forward Stateroom.
S/V Island Girl is powered by a brand new Yanmar 4JH45 diesel engine which has only 3 hours of usage, coupled with a new transmission and electrical harness installed in fall of 2024. The engine compartment is equipped with a state-of-the-art Fire Suppression System, providing an added layer of safety while you enjoy your time at sea. For enhanced maneuverability, the Island Girl features a Vetus bow thruster, enabling you to dock with ease and precision, even in tight spaces. The boat is also equipped with a Maxprop 3-blade folding propeller. The stainless wire standing rigging and sails are in great condition and the chain plates were replaced 3 years ago. The sail inventory consists of: new genoa and staysail on furlers and a roller furling main in excellent condition, Schaefer In Boom Roller Furling Main, Hood Roller Furling Staysail with Hoyt Jib Boom, Hood Roller Furling Genoa, and an Asymmetrical Spinnaker with Bamar Furler. Sail handling is made easy with 3 electric winches (2 Lewmar 48 Electric Primary Winches and 1 Lewmar 40 Electric Halyard Winch), and 2 Lewmar 40 two Speed secondary winches.
S/V Island Girl has been seasonally cruised for many years and has been outfitted with all you need for long term cruising. She has a total of 800 watts of solar, and a 400-watt wind generator to enhance your energy demands. The Spectra water maker with digital controls provides all the fresh water you need without having to go to shore for water. There is no shortage of ground tackle to keep you safe at anchor with: a Lighthouse 1501 Electric Windlass, a 45lb Ultra Anchor (Stainless Steel Spade) with 300' 5/16" anchor chain, and a 44lb Bruce anchor with 150' 5/16" anchor chain and 200' nylon rode. This vessel has a stout stainless-steel arch with stainless dinghy davits to lift the 8’ Defender inflatable dingy with 8 hp Yamaha outboard. Additionally, there is a swim platform with ladder for easy boarding from the stern. The cockpit is very spacious with a full canvas and Isinglass enclosure to keep you sheltered from the weather.
