S/V Thalia is now on the market! The Passport 40 has always been considered to be one of Robert Perry’s most popular designs. There were 148 built from 1980-1991, and is well named; it is truly a boat that you can live comfortably aboard and can take you to see the world. These fine yachts were built and are highly sought after by people looking for good performance, excellent livability and supreme seaworthiness.
Her interior is comfortable and well laid out with a beautifully crafted teak interior, showcasing exquisite joinery unparalleled in many modern boats. The two-stateroom configuration offers a fore and aft cabin with ample storage and hanging locker space. The master cabin features a cozy Pullman style berth to port, leading to a full head forward equipped with a shower and manual marine toilet. The spacious main salon includes an L-shaped settee on port, surrounding a large salon table, perfect for entertaining guests. The galley is equipped with double stainless sinks, a Princess propane 3 burner stove with oven, and a very efficient refrigeration and ice box. Under the sink is a water filter with an independent output and there are 2 manual foot pumps for both house water and raw water. In addition, there is also a Jabsco house water pump with separate pressure tank. All lighting throughout the vessel has been upgraded to LED, providing efficient and bright illumination.
S/V Thalia is powered by a 50hp raw water-cooled Beta Marine diesel engine repowered in 2012, with 3,250 hours and also features a high-temperature alarm for added safety. The stuffing box was repacked with new material, cleaned and re-threaded in 2025. In 2016 an Ewol 3-blade folding stainless prop was installed. She has a comprehensive sail collection including a Horizon offshore full batten mainsail, Doyle Offshore 120% Genoa, storm sails, UK Sailmakers Asymmetrical Spinnaker, Harken roller furler, and more. The Harken roller furler for the Genoa and a removable inner forestay further enhance sailing capabilities. She is equipped with state-of-the-art electronics, including a Raymarine E97 GPS touchscreen, Raymarine 4k Radar, Digital Yacht AIS transmitter and receiver, Raymarine ST70 Autopilot, Raymarine i70 multi-instrument, VHF Icom M157, SSB Icom 802 with Pactor III modem, and a Garmin Striker 4 Fish finder/GPS.
This vessel is well equipped for cruising with the following features: a Kato Marine Dinghy Davit system with crossbar to lift the 2023 A/B double aluminum floor 9.5ft dinghy with chaps. Located on the aft pushpit there is a Garhauer Marine engine lift with engine mount to house the 2022 Yamaha Enduro 15hp 2 Stroke outboard. There is no shortage of ground tackle to make anchoring easy and safe such as: a Maxwell RC10 windlass with foot pedals and remote cockpit controls and chain counter with 200 feet of 3/8” G4 chain, Mantus Marine 65lbs anchor, Fortress FX-21 secondary anchor with its own rode in the back with 5/16 line, Mantus Marine long anchor bridle, Mantus high duty mooring hook on 3/4-inch line for moorings, and a brand new set of navy blue 5/8 dock lines still unused.
Over the years, significant upgrades have been made including the removal of teak decks, in 2021 installation of a new stainless steel bow pulpit, re-painting of the cabin top and cockpit, and resealing of the starboard chain plates. In 2025 the port chain plates were also resealed. Meticulous electronic maintenance records, fuel usage logs, and repair logs are available in digital formats (Numbers or Excel spreadsheet). A comprehensive assortment of spare parts, including water pumps, impellers, oil and fuel filters, and zincs, ensure peace of mind for ongoing maintenance.
