Introducing S/V Paso Doble a 2000 Leopard 45, designed by Simonis Voogd and built by the renowned shipyard Robertson & Caine in South Africa. This exceptional vessel is a part of the highly regarded Leopard series of offshore catamarans, which were manufactured between 1997 and 2004. The Leopard 45 is celebrated for its sturdy construction and exceptional sailing capabilities. One of the standout features of the Leopard 45 is its "sea-kindly" motion, which is largely attributed to its well-balanced displacement and generous bridge deck clearance. This design effectively reduces the "slapping" noise that is often encountered with lower-slung catamarans, ensuring a more comfortable and enjoyable sailing experience.
The beautifully decorated interior was repainted and all Formica was replaced with new. This vessel is a spacious four double cabins layout, each with an en-suite head with electric marine toilets and shower, located in the four corners of the hulls. The bridge deck salon is a standout feature of the Leopard 45, showcasing a massive U-shaped galley that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. This area is complemented by a forward-facing navigation station, allowing for easy access to controls and instrumentation while enjoying the panoramic views. Equipped for modern living, the galley includes a double sink with water filtration system, a large double-door fridge/freezer, and an induction cooktop. Additionally, the convenient pantry features an LG washing machine with dryer, ensuring that you can enjoy the comforts of home while at sea. One of the most praised aspects of the Simonis design is the exceptional airflow throughout the vessel. The forward-facing salon windows are equipped with opening hatches that allow gentle breezes to flow through the entire living space, a crucial feature for comfortable Caribbean cruising. There are 3 air conditioning units on board that have not been used by the current owners. For your comfort new cushions were installed in the cockpit, salon and the cabins.
S/V Paso Doble is powered by 2 well maintained 55hp Yanmar 4JH3E diesel engines, with 4,000hrs and 4,200hrs. In 2025 a new 105ah gel battery for the engine start was installed. Below the waterline, you will find a robust shaft drive system (the newer models have Sail drive systems), complemented by Max props and skeg-protected rudders. The sail inventory is in immaculate condition: the new Main sail is battened and the new Head sail has Profurl roller furling. In 2025 in France, a new Sparcraft mast and boom were installed with new rigging, and new stays. There is a Selden Electric Winch that facilitates easy handling of the mainsail and a stack pack included. For reliable navigation, new Raymarine electronics were installed featuring: Axiom Pro 13” display, Alpha, autopilot, and e70 instruments.
With all the recent upgrades and maintenance, the current owners have ensured S/V Paso Doble is outfitted to go cruising now. In 2025 new batteries for the house bank were installed: 5 Lifepo4 totaling 1500ah with 3200w solar and a Victron 3000w inverter. In 2023, the Westerbeke generator was rebuilt for your extra power needs. In 2025 a new Sea WaterPro water maker was installed ensuring you always have water. The new 2025 AB 10ft dinghy with new 2026 Suzuki 20hp outboard motor will help get you to shore.
Other upgrades include: new hard top and new gelcoat on all topsides done in 2025, a new black trampoline, a Web grill, and ample tools and spare parts ensuring preparedness for any situation while cruising.
Currently located on the hard in the picturesque Rio Dulce, Guatemala, S/V Paso Doble is in prime condition and ready to set sail. This Leopard 45 embodies the spirit of adventure and is perfect for those looking to embrace the cruising lifestyle. With her extensive upgrades and thoughtful enhancements, she is ready to take you on unforgettable journeys across the waters.
