S/V Sea Mist is a 1979 36’ C&C, designed by C&C Design and built by C&C Yachts starting in 1977. Known for their exceptional design and performance, the C&C 36 is a well-balanced vessel that excels in light to moderate winds. These vessels had two different keel alternatives, the S/V Sea Mist features a versatile centerboard design that offers a unique advantage: with a draft of just 4 feet 3 inches when the drop keel is pulled up, this boat is perfectly suited for exploring shallow waters. Conversely, when the keel is deployed, the draft increases to 7 feet, enabling the boat to point efficiently into the wind.
Having been lovingly cared for by its current owners, who have spent nearly a decade cruising the stunning waters of the Caribbean and navigating the Mississippi River system from Canada, S/V Sea Mist has undergone numerous upgrades and regular maintenance to ensure its readiness for adventure. This sailboat has provided its owners with a comfortable, self-sufficient living space on the water, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to embrace the cruising lifestyle.
The C&C 36 has a spacious and comfortable interior, with plenty of natural light and ventilation. The boat has a traditional layout, and can accommodate up to six people in two cabins. The forward cabin has a cozy double V-berth, followed by a head compartment with a marine toilet and a shower. The main salon has two settees that can convert into berths, a folding dining table, and ample storage space. The galley on the port side is well-appointed with a Force 10 propane stove and oven, a sink, and a deep counter icebox. Opposite the galley, the navigation station is fitted with a chart table and an updated electrical DC panel (new in 2025). An aft double berth to starboard adds to the vessel's versatility and comfort.
S/V Sea Mist has been repowered with a well maintained 2010 40 hp Yanmar 3J4 4E diesel engine, with only 550hrs. Recent upgrades (2025) include the replacement of all motor mounts, new prop shaft, and cutlass bearings. The sails, crafted by Rolly Tasker, are in good condition; the mainsail is fully battened with a loose foot and stack pack (new in 2021), while the headsail features roller furling. Additionally, the vessel comes equipped with a removable baby stay (not forestay). The Code zero with hardware & telescopic removable bowsprit is also in good condition and the rod rigging is in good condition and was checked by a rigger in 2020.
For your navigation needs this vessel is equipped with: a Raymarine Axiom chart plotter, Raymarine Radar, Raymarine Evolution autopilot, a manual windvane, AIS (2016), Clipper Marine wind instruments, compass and a VHF Standard Horizon radio and 2 handheld radios.
This vessel is outfitted to go cruising with 350w of solar, D400 Wind generator, and a 2000w inverter. The house bank is fitted with 200 amps of 12-volt lithium batteries, along with a separate 12-volt engine start battery. Additionally, a 40E Power Saver Katadyn water maker ensures you'll have a continuous supply of fresh water for your journey. A robust stainless-steel arch with substantial dinghy davits, built in Rio Dulce, supports the easy transportation of an 11-foot 9-inch TUG dinghy powered by a 15 hp Yamaha 2-stroke outboard. Ground tackle is well-equipped with a manual Lewmar windlass, a Rockna anchor featuring 200 feet of chain and 300 feet of rode, as well as a Bruce anchor with 15 feet of chain and 100 feet of rode, ensuring you are ready for anchoring in various conditions. The cockpit is spacious and comfortable, with a full enclosure added in 2018, providing protection from the elements.
Notable upgrades include a new rudder and rudder post with three bearings completed in 2021, along with a hull and deck repainting and a recently purchased tarp covering the entire boat for protection. Included with S/V Sea Mist is a Survival Life raft (new in 2016) and a storm parachute that has never been used, enhancing your safety while cruising.
