1988 Tayana 37 Cutter

S/v Teki Malo is a stunning, immaculate 1988 Tayana Cutter 37’, designed by renowned Robert Perry. These popular vessels were the most successful of the many Taiwan-built double-ended full-keel cruisers and have an excellent reputation as blue water cruisers, many are found circumnavigating the world. She is made of solid fiberglass, with high quality craftsmanship inside and out. S/v Teki Malo is Hull # 553 out of 588 made, this means that any issues Tayana had in the first production boats were cleared up by the time this one was made. She is a 2-owner vessel; the current owners have sailed her and carefully maintained her for 17 years, in fact, the survey from 2 years ago had no recommendations, “in excellent condition”.
On the interior the Tayana is known for its all-teak interior with flawless joinery work. S/v Teki Malo is stunning with her solid teak cabinets, doors and trim throughout with teak and holly floors all in good condition. She has plenty of storage and a comfortable layout with 1 private cabin forward with a cozy double berth and hanging lockers with many surrounding drawers. The head is located just aft of the bow cabin on the port side which includes a shower and marine toilet. The salon is spacious with a u-shaped settee with a drop-down table to port and there’s a straight settee to starboard. The u-shaped galley on the port side is equipped with a 4-burner propane stove with oven, large double sinks, refrigeration and there is also a fresh water filtration system. The navigation station is across the galley and behind it there is a quarter berth.
S/v Teki Malo is powered by a well maintained 1988 Yanmar 4JHE 40hp diesel engine. She comes with a few sails: 315 sqft mainsail with 2 reefs, partially battened in good condition, a 488 sqft head-sail in good condition with a new 2024 Profurl furling. The stay-sail is in fair condition and the Gennaker is like new. There is also a removable fore-stay. For navigation she has: a Garmin 53 DV chart plotter, Furuno radar, Raymarine EV-200 autopilot and a Standard Horizon VHF radio.
On the exterior this vessel has been kept in pristine condition, the varnish has been maintained, the teak deck was removed in 2018. In 2022 the anti-fouling paint was done as well as some osmosis repairs. This year the chain plates were rebedded and the 7 Lewmar self-tailing winches were serviced 8 months ago. Also newly installed this year is a Maxwell electric anchor windlass.
