S/v Luciernaga is a beautiful, well cared for 1984 Irwin 41 center cockpit ketch. Built by American designer and boat builder Ted Irwin at Irwin Yachts located near St. Petersburg Florida, these popular blue water vessels were made with a moderate displacement hull of 25,000 lbs., long keel, and a ballast/displacement ratio of 32 percent. The current owners have been sailing s/v Luciernaga for the last 8 years throughout Central America and the Caribbean. They just recently returned to the Rio Dulce, Guatemala to look for a larger vessel to accommodate a larger family.
This Irwin 41 CC has a comfortable, well laid out interior, with a 13ft beam and 6.2ft head room. The teak cabinetry and trim throughout are in nice condition. This a 2-cabin layout with 2 heads each with a shower and marine toilet, (1 electric, 1 manual). There is a walkthrough to the large main aft cabin with a completely private head. The galley is located in the starboard corner and is equipped with a full-sized fridge with freezer, a propane 2 burner stove with oven, microwave and a new galley desk. The salon is spacious with ample seating; the L-shaped settee has a new solid wood table and there’s a straight single settee across. The second head and another comfortable double vberth are located forward. This vessel is also equipped with two 16000 BTU air conditioners for extra comfort on those hot days!
S/v Luciernaga is powered by a well maintained 68 hp Perkins 4.125 engine that was rebuilt in 2018, it now has 2800 hours. All her sails and the stack pack are in good condition; Mainsail is 341 sq ft and fully battened, the Geona is roller furling, and there is a jib sail and a removable forestay with club foot. She has plenty of navigation equipment onboard: new Raymarine autopilot, 2 compasses (1 Ritchie, 1 new Gemini), a new icom m504 VHF with command Mic III, Raymarine C120 chart plotter and radar (getting new replacement Radome 18). To help get you to shore, there is also a new 2024 Zodiac 10’ dinghy with a Yamaha 15hp 4 stroke outboard.
This vessel has been outfitted to go cruising now and many upgrades have been made and systems maintained. There is 1010w of solar (2x 200w panels, 1x 610w), 1500w Trooper inverter, 4x Trojan 6V 200AH batteries for house bank, 2x LIFEPO 12v batteries - 230AH each with separate chargers dedicated for galley outlets with solar, dc and ac chargers. There is a new Jensen Stereo/CD player installed and a unique Syonix Night Wave marine night vision camera, one can sail the river in complete darkness! More upgrades include: 3 new plastic fresh water tanks (150-gals total), replaced 1 of the 3 fuel tanks (150-gals total). Also, the antifouling paint has been newly applied in December 2024.
