S/v Florimell is now on the market! Made in 1969, this beautiful, unique 47’ Kelsall Marin catamaran is in pristine condition. In 1965 legendary catamaran designer Derek Kelsall started the Kelsall Catamarans design company in Cornwall, United Kingdom and built boats for 20 years, and now, since 1998, they are operating out of New Zealand. These vessels are known to be lightweight and unsinkable. They were built with a formed sandwich with Airex PVC core and glassed in.
This vessel has only had 2 owners. The current owner bought her in 1977 in Plymouth and spent 5 years sailing on and off in the Mediterranean. Then he and his family circumnavigated for 6 years. After his circumnavigation he has crossed the Atlantic 7 times in both directions in this vessel. It is a proven seaworthy passage cat and has been regularly maintained with all systems functioning.
Although s/v Florimell has the perfect layout and sleeping accommodations for chartering, she has never been chartered. She has 6 sleeping cabins, 2 manual heads and 7.2 ft head room throughout with a 20ft beam, plenty of space and storage. There are 2 showers, one inside and another in the cockpit. The galley is equipped with a 4-burner propane stove with oven, and a very large 12v refrigerator with compressor. The galley water is 12v pressure with 2-foot pumps, one for fresh and one for saltwater.
S/v Florimell has all you need to go cruising right now. She has been equipped with 500 watts of solar, a 3000-watt inverter combined with a 100-amp loading system. She can hold 500L of fresh water over 2 tanks, and she carries 150L of fuel in two tanks. There is also a water filtration system and a water maker that produces up to 60L per hour. To get you to shore, there is a 12ft Carib dinghy with 2 outboard motors, an 8hp Mercury and a 5hp. This vessel comes with the following sails: Main sail, fully battened with lazy jacks, in very good condition and bought new in 2018.
