M/y Hannah La Belle is now on the market! This beautiful, classic 1983 DeFever 48 tri cabin trawler is in immaculate condition. Built by renowned trawler designer and naval architect Arthur DeFever, these trawlers were designed for offshore, long-range cruising. With a heavy displacement of 50,000lbs, DeFevers were stoutly built with a solid, hard laid fiberglass hull and a full-length keel providing protection to the heavy-duty running gear.
This particular vessel has been meticulously maintained and has had many special upgrades. She has been set up to live completely and comfortably off grid, with 2,400 watts of solar (6 panels at 400 watts each!) and 2 new Victron Inverters installed in 2024. Also installed this year are twelve 6-volt Trojan batteries for the House Bank, one battery for each engine and one battery for each of the 2 Westerbeke 12kw generators on board. There is also a water maker on board to keep your tanks full, she has a 500-gallon capacity in 2 tanks.
M/y Hannah La Belle is powered by 2 strong, reliable Yanmar 4LHA-STP 240 hp engines. These engines were installed 4 years ago along with new shafts and custom made bronze propellers. The engines burn 4.78 gallons of fuel per hour on normal running at 2200 rpm at 8.5 knots, and at 10 knots, at 2400 rpm, approximately 5.5 gallons per hour. The fuel capacity is 600 gallons in 2 tanks; the fuel was polished regularly. Her stability at sea has been enhanced as she is equipped with Naiad stabilizers to keep her steadier in rough seas.
The interior of the DeFever 48 tri cabin is efficiently laid out with abundant living and storage space everywhere. The enormous, cozy state room is aft with a comfortable walk-around queen sized berth. There is a fully enclosed head with shower as well as a beautiful teak vanity and plenty of storage and hanging lockers. On the starboard side is a separate cabin used as a laundry room which has a Samsung washer/dryer combo, only 2 years old. The spacious galley is equipped with stainless double sinks, lots of counter space with a new 110v refrigerator (works off solar), and a new electric cook top. In the beautiful salon is the helm station which provides excellent visibility all around. Below the salon, the engine room is accessible through a door from the forward port side cabin. With approximately 5’6” of head room and ample walking space, maintenance can be easily done.
On the exterior, the DeFever 48 won’t disappoint! The fly-bridge is enormous, with room for many guests. There is a full enclosure as well as new cushions and canvas covers for all cockpit seating. On the upper deck there is also an overhead crane to lift the tender on and off the boat. The upper helm and lower helm are equipped with Garmin chart plotters, Furuno radar, and a Simrad autopilot with new computer recently installed. The swim platform has been extended with a rack for a dinghy or Jet Ski, raised from the original about 6 inches.
The long list of upgrades that have been done to this vessel are too many to list here, so please inquire for more details. All original manuals for the boat are onboard. A new bottom job was done January 2024. All wiring and plumbing about 90 percent new, and 2 of the 3 a/c units were replaced as well.
M/y Hannah La Belle is a proven seaworthy vessel and has cruised from the USA through the Panama Canal and throughout Central America and now she's in the Rio Dulce, Guatemala where she waits for her next adventure. If you are searching for an offshore trawler that’s ready to go now without sacrificing all your creature comforts, then this vessel is a must see!
